The desktop (wallpaper) had a blackness screen /white letters merely I could & did change that but my email background did non. It is still black with white letters. Help!!

The black screen I accept is when windows is open. The print is white. Like on my kindle I changed the colors and then I tin read easier. I am not sure how this happened on my laptop and then I do non know how to correct it. I have Hp Green-eyed touchsmart. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?
